A project to recycle 100,000 tons of
decommissioned batteries a year has entered trial production at Ganfeng
Lithium in Sichuan province, Dazhou Daily reported.
On July 18,

development industrial park in Xuanhan County's Puguang Economic
Development Zone. In the battery treatment workshop of Ganfeng Lithium's
100,000 tons decommissioned battery recycling and comprehensive
utilization project, he saw a set of automation equipment running at
high speed and bags of decommissioned batteries neatly placed next to
the equipment.
"At present, the two anaerobic carbonization
recycling lines of waste batteries installed in Ganfeng's 100,000 tons
decommissioned battery recycling and comprehensive utilization project
are still undergoing commissioning and technical transformation, which
generally lasts about three months before normal production. After
normal commissioning, the two battery recycling lines can handle about

Province and surrounding provinces and cities (including decommissioned
ternary batteries, decommissioned lithium iron phosphate batteries) and
production waste generated by lithium battery manufacturers (including
decommissioned ternary positive electrode sheets, decommissioned lithium
iron phosphate positive electrode sheets), etc. Recovery of lithium
iron phosphate positive powder, lithium iron phosphate battery powder,
ternary positive powder, ternary battery powder and copper, aluminum and
other valuable materials.
In addition to the Dazhou battery
recycling project in Sichuan province, Ganfeng Lithium has also laid out
a comprehensive utilization project of lithium batteries with an annual
processing capacity of 100,000 tons in Quannan County, Ganzhou, Jiangxi
Province, which is implemented and constructed by its subsidiary
Ganzhou Ganfeng Renewable Resources Co., LTD. The project has a total
investment of 2 billion yuan, covers an area of 140 mu(93,333.338 square
meters), and is constructed in two phases. At present, some production
lines have also been built and operated, Ganzhou Ganfeng renewable
Resources Co., LTD. Deputy manager Liu Ye introduced that in the first
quarter of 2023, the output value of Ganfeng renewable resources has
reached more than 3 million.
Ganfeng Lithium is the largest lithium hydroxide
producer in China and was listed on the Shenzhen Stock Exchange in
2010. In 2011, the company began to deploy upstream mining resources,
investing in Canadian mining companies, Subsequently, he successively
occupied the Mariana Lithium Salt Lake Project in Argentina, the
Blackstair spodumene project in Ireland, the Mount Marion spodumene
project in Australia, the Ningdu Heyuan spodumene project, the

established to build a comprehensive utilization project of intelligent
dismantling of 100,000 tons of decommissioned lithium batteries and
clean and efficient recycling of all components.
In January 2022,
Ganzhou Ganfeng Renewable Resources Co., Ltd. was established to
construct a comprehensive utilization project of 100,000 tons of lithium
batteries annually.
In December 2022, Xinyu Ganfeng New
Materials Co., Ltd. was established. The business scope includes:
electronic special materials manufacturing, new energy vehicle waste
power battery recycling and cascade utilization (excluding hazardous
waste management), metal waste and debris processing, and metal material
sales.
The main products of Ganfeng Lithium battery recycling
project are battery grade lithium carbonate, lithium hydroxide, ternary
precursor materials, etc.
Data show: In 2022, Ganfeng Cycle
Technology Co., Ltd. processed 10,287 tons of lithium batteries, 21,466
tons of iron lithium waste, and a total of 31,753 tons. In 2022, 6,682
tons of lithium hydroxide will be recovered, and 3,239 tons of ternary
precursor will be shipped.
